Nigerian Squash Team Makes History, Reaches World Team Championship Final

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has commended the Nigerian men’s squash team for their remarkable performance at the 2024 Men’s World Team Squash Championship in Hong Kong.
The team achieved a dominant 3-0 victory over China and a hard-fought 2-1 win against Peru, extending their impressive run in the global tournament.After a slow start, suffering two consecutive defeats, the Nigerian team bounced back to win four straight games, propelling them to the final of the tourney.

They will face Japan in the final on Sunday morning at 7:30 a.m. Nigerian time. NSC Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, described the team’s performance as a significant achievement for Nigerian sports.

The championship, organized by Hong Kong Squash and sanctioned by the World Squash Federation, featured 26 countries, with Nigeria and South Africa as the only African representatives.

The NSC has assured the Nigeria Squash Federation of their continued support, emphasizing their commitment to building the Nigerian sports ecosystem.
