Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has invited 30 players to camp as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) begins preparations for the Super Eagles B’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualification fixture against Ghana.

The players are expected to report to the Remo Stars Sports Institute, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.

The invited players include Kano Pillars’ midfielder Rabiu Ali, who has scored eight goals this season, as well as Remo Stars’ goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, Rivers United defender Steven Mayo, and Abia Warriors’ forward Sunday Megwo.

Other notable players invited include Enyimba FC goalkeeper Henry Ozoemena, Remo Stars’ wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Enugu Rangers’ midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye, and Nasarawa United forward Anas Yusuf.

The Super Eagles B will face Ghana’s Black Stars B in a two-legged qualification fixture, with the first leg scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, December 22.

Persecondnews reports that the second leg will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on Saturday, December 28.

Ghana has a history of stopping Nigeria from reaching the CHAN finals, having done so in 2009 and 2023.

Coach Eguavoen will be looking to assemble a strong team to overcome the Ghanaian challenge and qualify for the 8th edition of the CHAN, scheduled to take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania in February 2025.

The tournament is exclusively for footballers plying their trade with clubs in their country’s domestic leagues and possessing standard contracts.

The NFF has expressed its commitment to ensuring the qualification of the Super Eagles B for the CHAN finals.
