After 45 years of unresolved marital crisis, Mr. Ilani Alhaji and his wife, Halima, have finally parted ways.

Reason: Allegation of infidelity against the estranged wife by her husband.

Summarily, the Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, dissolved the crisis-ridden marriage between the duo.

The complainant, Halima Ilani, had approached the court, seeking the severance of their union, citing longstanding accusations of infidelity by her husband.

She told the court that the allegations were often made several times right in the presence of their children by her former husband, leaving her deeply humiliated and embarrassed.

Halima lamented that her husband had neglected his marital responsibilities for the past 20 years, forcing her to face untold hardships, all for the sake of their children.

“I am now old, and I don’t have the energy for these kinds of things. What pains me the most is the man suspecting me of cheating. I am no longer interested in this marriage,” she told the court.

In his ruling, the judge, Malam Anas Khalifa, pronounced the loveless, strife-torn marriage dissolved.

The verdict followed the pronouncement of divorce made by the husband, Ilani Alhaji, after reconciliation efforts outside the courtroom failed.
