In a swift response to a distress call, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says it has recovered a 2012 black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado hijacked at gunpoint after an intense chase.
The incident occurred on Thursday, November 21, at 8:00 p.m., when Engr. Kemi H. Adidiru was carjacked by six armed men under a pedestrian bridge along Alieta Road, Lugbe, Persecondnews reports.
The carjackers forcefully ejected her and her driver from their 2012 black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and sped off with the car and their belongings at gunpoint, according to the command’s spokeswoman, SP Josephine Adeh.
A good Samaritan who witnessed the incident promptly notified the FCT Police Command Control Room, providing crucial information about the vehicle and the suspects’ direction of escape.

The police acted quickly, alerting strategic checkpoints and deploying patrol teams across the FCT, she said.
“The command successfully recovered the vehicle after a high-speed chase and gun battle with the suspects at approximately 11:35 pm along Dantata Bridge, Galadimawa Road.
“The suspects abandoned their firearm and fled into the surrounding bushes, leaving the vehicle behind.
The recovered vehicle, along with an international passport, cash, and other valuables, was returned to Engr. Adediru, who expressed deep gratitude for the police’s prompt response and professionalism,” she said in a statement obtained by Persecondnews in Abuja on Friday.
FCT Police Commissioner Olatunji Disu praised the vigilant bystander and urged the public to report suspicious activities to the police via these emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653.
