Super Eagles stars, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen, have been nominated for the prestigious 2024 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Men’s World Best Player award.

According to Persecondnews, they are among the 30 elite players vying for the coveted honour.

Lookman’s impressive performances for Atalanta and Nigeria earned him this recognition.

His hattrick in the UEFA Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen sealed Atalanta’s victory.

He also scored three goals in seven appearances for Nigeria in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen’s outstanding season with Napoli, scoring 15 goals in 25 league appearances, cemented his nomination.

Currently on loan at Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray, he is expected to continue his impressive form.

Previous winner Erling Haaland sets the bar high for this year’s contenders.

Lookman is also favoured to win the 2024 Africa Player of the Year Award.

The nomination is a testament to the growing influence of Nigerian football on the global stage.
