Farouk Lawan, a former member of the House of Representatives, has been released from prison after completing his five-year sentence.
He was convicted for accepting a $500,000 bribe from billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, the Chairman of Zenon Petroleum and Gas Ltd.
He was found guilty of soliciting a $3 million bribe from Otedola while serving as the Chairman of the House ad-hoc Committee that investigated fuel subsidy fraud in 2012.
Persecondnews recalls that Lawan’s conviction was upheld by the Supreme Court on January 26, 2024.
