The Bauchi State Office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a three-day operation to rid Bauchi markets of counterfeit Milo chocolate drinks.

Dr. Paul Kamai, the State Director of NAFDAC, announced this on Wednesday in Bauchi.

Kamai said: “The NAFDAC office began the inspections in markets and superstores to get rid of the fake Milo in circulation following a directive from the Headquarters.

“This exercise will last three days, starting Tuesday.”

Kamai also announced that the agency will be meeting with the executives of the agro-chemical dealers association within the week to sensitize them on the harmful effects of chemicals on food items.

He said: “In Bauchi, we will engage the dealers of agrochemicals against the use of Dictholoruvis and Paraquat chemicals to store food as we approach the harvest period.

“These are dangerous chemicals that have been banned over time.”

Kamai reminded bakers and packaged water producers to renew their licenses within the required two-year period, warning that failure to do so may result in penalties that could disrupt their business operations.

The state director invited small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to register their products with NAFDAC, facilitating their entry and acceptance into the Nigerian market.
