Just in: ECOWAS defence chiefs meet in Abuja

A high-level meeting of Economic Community of West African States’ (ECOWAS) Defence Chiefs is underway at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Gen. Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff, is presiding over the meeting.
In attendance at the meeting are Defence Minister Mr. Mohammed Badaru, Foreign Affairs Minister Mr. Yusuf Tuggar, and Sen. Ahmed Lawan, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defence.
Also in attendance are the Chairman of the House Defence Committee, a representative of the National Security Adviser, Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, and the Chief of Defence Staff of ECOWAS countries, with the exception of Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger that have pulled out of the regional body.
