Day 11 of Olympics: History made in Paris as three Nigerians qualify for women’s long jump

Team Nigeria achieved an unprecedented feat on Day 11 of the Olympics, as for the first time in the history of the games, three Nigerian women qualified for the final of the women’s long jump on Tuesday.

Ese Brume led the trio as she saved the best for last, leaping an automatic qualifying mark of 6.76m to book her spot in the final.

Brume was on the verge of elimination after dropping to 9th place, but she made a significant breakthrough in her final attempt to qualify for the final.

Ruth Usoro finished with an impressive jump of 6.68m, and Prestina Ochonogor finished with 6.65m.

Persecondnews recalls how, despite all odds, Brume managed to secure a bronze medal for Nigeria at the most recent Olympics in Tokyo.

Brume became the first athlete to win four long jump titles in African Championship history, winning the crown three times consecutively in 2014, 2016, and 2018.
