Alvaro Morata, the 31-year-old, signed for AC Milan from Atletico Madrid on Friday, returning to the Italian A days after winning Euro 2024.

The Spanish captain signed a four-year deal with Milan, who brought him in to replace departed Olivier Giroud following the former France international’s transfer to Los Angeles FC.

The 31-year-old scored 46 goals in 117 appearances for Atlético after joining the club on an initial loan deal from Chelsea in January of 2019.

“Morata has signed with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year,” said Milan in a statement.

Milan paid Morata’s 13-million euro ($14.2 million) release clause, and the player will earn around 4.5 million euros per season, according to Italian media reports.

Morata played in every match in Spain’s triumph at the Euros, netting his only goal of the tournament in La Roja’s 3-0 thumping of Croatia, which kicked off their campaign in Germany.

He has scored 36 goals in 80 international appearances for his country.

Morata spent four seasons on loan at Juventus, spanning two spells at the club.

He won two league titles and three Coppa Italia trophies with the Turin giants before returning to Atlético in the summer of 2022.

Milan announced in their statement that Morata will wear the No. 7 jersey at the club.
