President Tinubu has named the Arterial Road N20 from the Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) as the Prof. Wole Soyinka Highway.

According to Persecondnews, President Tinubu named the road after the distinguished playwright, poet, and novelist who turns 90 on July 13.

Soyinka was the first African to win the Nobel Literature Prize.

The Nigerian leader said on Tuesday that Soyinka has brought honour and fame to Nigeria.

The Noble Laurette is most well known for his playwriting, with The Lion and the Jewel (1959), A Dance of the Forests (1960), Kongi’s Harvest (1964), and Death and the King’s Horseman (1975) among his best works.

The Nigerian writer, who “fashions the drama of existence in a wide cultural perspective and with poetic overtones,” won the 1986 Nobel Prize in Literature.

He is the first African recipient of the prize.
