A few hours after the tragic death of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on Sunday, a small earthquake, measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale, hit Malayer in western Iran’s Hamedan province on Monday.
The earthquake, reported by the Seismological Centre of the Geophysics Institute of the University of Tehran, happened at 08:20:52 local time and was 10-kilometres deep.
It was centered 9 kilometers from Samen, 18 kilometers from Malayer, and 18 kilometers from Oshtorinan. So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake occurred shortly after President Raisi’s death in a helicopter crash, which has deeply saddened the country.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declared a five-day period of national mourning to honor the late president and others who died in the crash.
