A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday rejected the plea of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Biafra separatist movement, to reinstate his revoked bail and transfer him from the Department of State Services (DSS) custody to house arrest or prison.

The judge noted that Kanu had previously made the same request, which was dismissed for a lack of merit.

Justice Nyako confirmed in her ruling that Kanu had previously left the country after being admitted to bail.

Mrs. Nyako also noted that the guarantors who previously supported Kanu’s bail had requested to be released from their obligation and were granted this request because they could not locate Kanu or determine his whereabouts.

According to Persecondnews, Kanu’s only option was to appeal to the Court of Appeal, and he should utilize this right.

Kanu’s lead counsel argued that the Supreme Court’s ruling should not have resulted in the revocation of Kanu’s earlier bail, but the judge disagreed.

She mentioned that after reviewing the Supreme Court judgment, she found no support for the lawyer’s claim.

Kanu criticised the situation, firmly stating that he refuses to stand trial in any Nigerian court.

He argued that subjecting him to a trial would violate Nigeria’s Constitution and international laws.
