Breaking: Manchester City crowned Premier League champions for 4th season in a row as Arsenal miss out

Winning is part of Pep Guardiola’s genetic code, as Manchester City became the first team to win the Premier League four consecutive times in English football history.

Serial winners Manchester City redefined what it means to be champions of the most-viewed league in the world, and they also deflated Arsenal’s hopes of winning the league for the first time in 20 years.

The 23-year-old Phil Foden inspired his side in the penultimate game of the season, with two goals securing victory against David Moyes West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad.

Foden has now won six Premier League titles, more than Andy Cole, Wayne Rooney, and John Terry.

He said: “It is so hard to put into words what we’ve done today; no team has ever done it four times in a row; we have put ourselves in the history books.

“You see what it means to the fans and to us players working all year for this moment. A special moment to share it with the fans.

“I never get bored of it; you want this feeling every time. When you win something, there is no better feeling. I want to keep winning as much as I can.”

City have closed out the season in typically ruthless fashion, claiming victory in each of their final nine games of the top-flight campaign.

Following a goalless draw at the Emirates at the end of March, City have been faultless, sweeping all before them to ultimately leapfrog the Gunners at the top of the table.

Arsenal themselves have barely put a foot wrong, but they imploded in the game against Aston Villa in north London last month, and the defeat ultimately proved fatal to their hopes of winning their first title since 2004.

City will now look to add the FA Cup next weekend, as they face Manchester United at Wembley in the final for the second season in a row.
