Music legend, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, has concluded plans to join the government and notable Nigerians to provide succour to the poor people amid current economic challenges in the country.

The initiative is part of the activities lined up by the music icon to mark his 82nd birthday.

As he prepares to add another year, the Chief Commander, as he is affectionately known, revealed that he felt compelled to identify with the masses.

The octogenarian musician noted that his April 3 birthday celebration doesn’t call for a lavish celebration but rather a time to reflect, support the underprivileged, and appreciate God.

Speaking exclusively with Per Second News ahead of the birthday, he said: “I thank God for the uncommon grace I have enjoyed as I will clock 82 in two weeks. I can’t quantify God’s divine grace upon my life as a music icon and God’s servant.”

To Obey who has just recovered from a life-threatening ailment, his 82nd birthday celebration is solely centered on impacting lives and thanking God for the gift of life.

His father’s compound in Keesi, Abeokuta, Ogun State, will host a medical outreach, and at several locations in Idogo, Abeokuta, and Lagos State, palliatives will be distributed, and his church, Decross Gospel Mission, which has its headquarters in Iyanapaja, Lagos, will host a thanksgiving service.

“I have been through a lot in life. But God saw me through. The last operation I had was a prostrate enlargement, and I thank God that it was successful. The experience was terrifying, but God intervened. This is why I want to thank God, support people, and create more health enlightenment.

“The government can’t do it alone. They need people’s support and prayers. I also want to urge all Nigerians, both Christians and Muslims, to embrace agriculture. This is the only way Nigeria can survive and become a proud country,” Persecondnews quotes Obey as saying.
