The Nigeria Football Federation has declared the position of the Super Eagles’ head coach vacant following the expiration of the contract of Jose Peseiro at the end of February.
With the departure of the Portuguese, who led the Eagles to second place at the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Glass House is out shopping for an experienced replacement.
Also declared vacant is the position of the Golden Eaglets’ head coach.
The team was last handled by Nduka Ugbade, who had a disastrous outing in the last U-17 AFCON championship.
Ugbade’s contract was terminated following the failure of the Golden Eaglets to qualify for the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2023.
In an advertisement on its website calling for applications, the NFF stated that the prospective Super Eagles coach “must have proven experience at the elite level of football.”
The statement reads: “Are you a passionate and experienced football coach ready to take on the challenge of leading the national team? The Nigeria Football Federation is pleased to announce openings for the position of Head Coach for the Senior Men’s National Football team, the Super Eagles.
Requirements:
-Relevant Coaching Qualification
-Proven experience at the elite level of football management
– A successful track record of leading teams
-Knowledge of African football will be an added advantage.
Applications can be sent to the email Job@nff.com or via the links.
Deadline: Applications must be received by the office of the Secretary-General by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
While no game has been arranged for the Eagles ahead of the March 18 international free window, the federation is now faced with the task of appointing a new coach for the team before their next World Cup qualifiers in June.
