Sports Minister congratulates Rivers United on their CAF Confederations Cup Qualification

The Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Enoh, has congratulated Rivers United, Nigeria’s representative in the ongoing CAF Confederations Cup, for securing a quarterfinal berth with a remarkable 2-1 victory over Dreams FC of Ghana.

Enoh expressed his delight at Rivers United’s advancement in the tournament, describing it as a moment of pride for the entire nation.

A statement by Diana-Mary Nsan, the Special Assistant on Media to the minister said, “the achievement is not only a triumph for Rivers State but also a victory for all enthusiasts of Nigerian football.”

The minister also commended the team for their resilience and determination, urging them to maintain their focus and approach their upcoming quarterfinal encounter with confidence and resolve.

He said: “Rivers United’s qualification for the quarterfinals is a testament to the strength and quality of Nigerian football. It is a victory that resonates beyond the boundaries of Rivers State, showcasing the talent and determination of our players.

“I congratulate the team on this milestone and urge them to continue representing our nation with pride and distinction. This time, focus must remain in place, as well as the hunger to go all the way.”
