A popular socialite and petroleum products dealer based in Akure, the Ondo State capital, Mr. Sesan Adelabu, has allegedly macheted his wife to death and also took his life.

Adelabu, popularly known as Emirate, the name of his retail outlet, was reported to have committed suicide by drinking a poisonous substance, suspected to be an insecticide, after killing his wife in their residence in the Alagbaka GRA area of the city on Friday night.

The remains of Adelabu and his wife have since been evacuated to the mortuary by the police.

Police Commissioner Abayomi Oladipo has ordered the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.

According to SP Omisanya, an investigation has commenced to unravel the circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.

The scene has been cordoned off to enable police to do the needful, she said.
