Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was sworn in as the fifth democratically-elected governor of Kogi State on Saturday.

The momentous ceremony took place at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja, witnessed by dignitaries and politicians as the Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Mejabi, administered the oath.

Persecondnews reports that the event began with Deputy Governor Joel Salifu Oyibo’s oath of office amid enthusiastic cheers from the massive crowd.

The high point of the historical occasion was the inauguration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as governor, following his victory in the November 2023 election.

The presence of Vice-President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, added colour to the occasion.

One of the highlights of the inauguration was Ododo’s first salute and the impressive parade conducted in his honor. This symbolic act showcased the pride and dedication with which he intends to lead the state into a prosperous future.

In a touching gesture of goodwill, the former governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, officially handed over the reins to Ododo, the immediate past accountant general of the state.

The seamless transfer of leadership and power marks the beginning of a new era for Kogi State as Governor Ododo steps forward to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

With a vision of progress and development, Ododo promised a “revitalized focus” on improving the lives of the people of Kogi State.
