No fewer than 10 persons, including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) onboard a private jet, escaped deaths on Friday as their jet crash landed at the Ibadan airport in the Oyo State capital.

The jet from Abuja, with registration number N580KR, landed at 11 a.m. at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport but overshot the runway, the second incident in less than two months, Persecondnews reports.

The jet was reported to have missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush.

Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) were immediately deployed to the scene.

Confirming the incident, a spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Carol Adekotujo, said: “It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty.”

Also contacted, a spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mr Tunji Oketunmbi, confirmed the incident, saying a team had been dispatched to the site for investigation.

Persecondnews recalls that In November 2023, the Minister of Power, Dr Adebayo Adelabu, had escaped death when a plane he flew from Abuja crash-landed at the same airport.
