With immediate effect, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the Governor of Ondo State, has dissolved the State Executive Council he inherited from the administration of the late Gov. Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu.
All the commissioners and other members of the cabinet are to immediately hand over to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior administrative officers in their respective offices, a press release by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said on Wednesday.
It also stated that all Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Special Assistants (SAs) are relieved of their duties effective immediately.
All the affected officials are directed to hand over all government properties in their possession.
The statement, a copy of which was obtained by Persecondnews, said the governor thanked the affected officials for their services and contributions to the development of Ondo State.
Persecondnews recalls that Aiyedatiwa, who was the Deputy Governor, was sworn in as governor on December 27, 2023, following the death of Akeredolu.
Aiyedatiwa took an oath of office administered by the State Chief Judge, Olusegun Odunsola.
Aiyedatiwa, in his inaugural speech, declared a three-day mourning, with all flags to be flown at half mast.
Akeredolu died in the early hours of Deck 27 after a protracted battle with leukaemia and prostate cancer.
