Jose Peseiro’s Super Eagles have lost 2-0 in a friendly game with Syli National of Guinea played at the Bani Yas Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Monday.

The Nigerian national team started the game without the usual suspect with Napoli hitman Victor Osimhen, and first choice goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, benched, but the Guinean drew first blood by scoring the first goal in the 14th minutes.

The Super Eagles had a chance to restore parity but fluffed, as Moses Simon failed to convert from the penalty spot after Sadiq Umar was hacked down in the 19th-minute.

The first half ended with the Super Eagles trialing by 1-0.

The official X page of the Super Eagles, which gave timely updates on the match, stated that the due to poor defending gave Guineans the upper hand to get a second goal in the 64 minute.

The game ended 2-0 as Nigeria lost to Guinea in their first pre-AFCON friendly against Guinea.

The Super Eagles are seeking a fourth title, having won the AFCON in 1980, 1994 and 2013.

Nigeria are in what is regarded as a “Group of Death” with Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea.
