Tinubu seeks Senate confirmation of three NUPRC Executive Commissioners, 19 NPC Commissioners

President Bola Tinubu has written to the Nigerian Senate to expeditiously consider and confirm the three new executive commissioners for the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) recently appointed.

The appointees include Bashir Indabawa, North-West, Executive Commissioner, Exploration and Acreage Management; Enorense Amadasu, South-South, Executive Commissioner, Development & Production; and Babajide Fasina, South-West, Executive Commissioner, Economic Regulation & Strategic Planning.

According to the President, the appointment is in line with Section 11, sub-section 3 of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021.

The letter was read on the floor of the Senate at the resumed plenary on Tuesday by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Akapbio then referred the letter to the Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream and Gas) for further legislative action and to report back in one week.

Similarly, in a separate letter, President Tinubu sought the confirmation of 19 commissioners of the National Population Commission (NPC).

Persecondnews reports that Tinubu had on November 8, 2023, approved the appointments of 20 qualified Nigerians to serve as Federal Commissioners in the NPC.

Those appointed include Emmanuel Eke (Abia), Clifford Zirra (Adamawa ), Chidi Ezeoke (Anambra), Isa Buratai (Borno), Alex Ukam (Cross River), Blessyn Brume-Ataguba (Delta), Jeremiah Nwankwegu (Ebonyi), Tony Aiyejina (Edo), Ejike Ezeh (Enugu), Abubakar Damburam (Gombe), Uba Nnabue (Imo ), Sa’adatu Garba (Kaduna) and Aminu Tsanyawa (Kano).

Others are Yori Afolabi (Kogi), Olakunle Sobukola (Ogun), Temitayo Oluwatuyi (Ondo), Mudashiru Hussain (Osun), Mary Afan (Plateau), Ogiri Henry (Rivers) and Saany Sale ( Taraba).
