Persecondnews MD lauds Mr. Ephraim Sheyin’s appointment as NAN Editor-in-Chief

The appointment of Mr. Ephraim Sheyin as the substantive Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has been commended by Persecondnews, an international digital newspaper headquartered in Abuja.

Persecondnews’ Managing Director, Ayodele Akinsola, in a congratulatory message to the newly-appointed Editor-in-Chief, described his appointment as deserving and meritorious.

He said he was confident Sheyin as a thorough-bred professional and former colleague in NAN will further raise the bar of professionalism in the 45-year-old nation’s news agency.

The Managing Director of NAN, Mr. Ali M. Ali, had on Monday announced Sheyin’s appointment following the retirement of Mr. Silas Nwoha on December 4.

Sheyin’s appointment took effect from o December 5.

Sheyin, originally from Kaduna State, previously served as the Managing Editor, Editorial Operations, and also as the Head of Lagos Operations of NAN.

Prior to that, he held the position of Zonal Manager for the Jos Zone before relocating to the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, where he led the NAN Newsroom.

His experience also includes being the Head of NAN Features and Foreign Desks, among other notable roles.

Sheyin’s extensive career in journalism started as NAN’s District Correspondent in Wukari, located in the then Gongola State.

He later held a similar position in Kafanchan, Kaduna State. In recognition of his talent and diligence, Sheyin was awarded the Reuters Fellowship in 1996, allowing him to study at Stanford University in California, USA.

Subsequently, he pursued Environmental Reporting at Oxford University in the United Kingdom and completed post-graduate studies at the International Institute of Journalism in Berlin, Germany. Additionally, Sheyin obtained his undergraduate degree in Literature in English from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria.

As a member of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) and the Governing Council of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos, Sheyin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.

NAN MD had expressed confidence in Sheyin’s ability to diligently fulfill his responsibilities based on his outstanding track records and qualifications.
