Tinubu performs Umrah in Mecca, prays for Nigeria

"For Nigeria, may our prosperity grow and humanity be kind to each and every one of us"

President Bola Tinubu on Monday in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, during Umrah, prayed for the prosperity of Nigeria, saying it is yet to blossom to the required level.

Persecondnews reports that the President performed the spiritual rites after a successful outing at the Saudi-Africa Summit in Riyadh.

Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca (the holiest city for Muslims, located in the Hejazi region of Saudi Arabia) that can be undertaken at any time of the year in contrast to the annual Ḥajj.

Tinubu offered prayers that “humanity be kind to each and every one of us”.

According to him, for Nigeria to get to the level that his administration requires, it needs hardwork and consistent prayers.

He said: “I am grateful to God for his guidance, for his blessings and his answers to my prayers and the country’s prayers.

“For Nigeria, may our prosperity grow and humanity be kind to each an every one of us. The prospect of the country is yet to blossom to the level that we require, it needs hardwork and consistent prayer.

“Our strength is in our diversity, and we will continue to build on that prospect.”

Persecondnews recalls that at the Nigeria-Saudi Investment Roundtable in Ryad, Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Arabia’s Trade and Investment Minister, Kahlid El-Falih, said the passion and candid expression of the Nigerian leader will be reciprocated with substantial new investment across several sectors of the Nigerian economy.

El-Falih said: “The Minister of Commerce and I will be visiting Nigeria either before the end of this year or very early next year with a very large delegation of Saudi CEOs from all key sectors.

“We know you are ready for business, so we do not want to come to Nigeria for any exploratory discussion. We are coming for implementation. It is an action visit.

“Mr. President, you will agree with me that good intentions alone will not take us anywhere, so we will prepare well with your team and our investors will align with your officials, beginning now, to develop a concrete work plan of investments in the key sectors for takeoff when we meet again.”
