Alan Fisher, a restaurant owner and chef in Japan originally hailing from Ireland, has achieved two remarkable cooking-related Guinness World Records.

First, he secured the title for the longest cooking marathon (individual) by clocking an impressive 119 hours and 57 minutes.

This achievement surpassed the previous record, held by Nigerian chef Hilda Baci, by more than 24 hours.

Alan then went on to claim the title for the longest baking marathon (individual), completing an astonishing 47 hours and 21 minutes in the kitchen.

This surpassed the previous record set by Wendy Sandner (USA) which was 31 hours and 16 minutes.

What makes Alan’s accomplishment even more extraordinary is that he undertook both challenges consecutively, spending over 160 hours in the kitchen with just over a day of rest in between.

A Journey from Ireland to Japan

Alan Fisher’s journey from his graduation at Dublin City University in 2008 to becoming a culinary sensation in Japan is a remarkable tale. He initially ventured to Japan through an overseas graduate program that introduced Irish graduates to Asian companies.

Over the years, he firmly established himself in Tokyo, where he also met his future wife and business partner. However, despite his success, he felt a yearning for a new challenge.

“After the wedding, saying goodbye to 30 friends and family who came over, I remember a feeling of being trapped, thinking to myself, ‘Is this it?

“Is this my life now to have kids and work in the same company? It was time for the next challenge,” Alan reflected.
