Renowned movie producer and director, Kunle Afolayan, has made a bold statement, asserting that he has surpassed the achievements of his father in the movie industry.
Afolayan, at an interactive session covered by Per Second News, shared his views on his career and his father’s legacies.
Afolayan said he no longer harbors any ambition to achieve more in the film world.
When asked whether his father’s name had paved the way for him, he said he has already accomplished what he would like to be remembered for, adding “there is no further ambition in my career.
He declared:“I have created a niche, brand, and name for myself. Till I die, it will be difficult to separate my father’s name from mine, but I don’t live in my father’s shadow.”
Afolayan, who has consistently delivered critically acclaimed movies and made significant contributions to the Nigerian film industry, appears to be content with his achievements and legacies.
The movie maker, who worked in the bank industry from 1999-2004, also gave his opinion about the growth of Nollywood as he cautioned people comparing Nigerian movie industry to other countries.
“The growth and expansion of Nollywood can only mean that the industry had grown.
“South Korean movies are not where they are now 10 years ago, same with Italian and American movies. I think it will get better here as well.”
