At Film City launch: Gov. Sanwo-olu says creative industry birthed, rooted in Lagos

A star-studded event held in the historical town of Epe, Lagos State, on Wednesday as the much-anticipated Lagos Film City was officially unveiled, showcasing a grand spectacle of appreciation and unity within the entertainment industry.

The launch, hosted by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and facilitated by the Commissioner for Tourism, Toke Benson, brought together esteemed actors and key industry players, making it a momentous occasion for all.

One of the highlights of the event was a resounding speech by Femi Adebayo, a well-respected actor in the Nigerian entertainment scene.

In a show of admiration, the actor commended Sanwo-Olu for his consistent and unwavering support of the entertainment industry practitioners in Lagos.

While speaking with Per Second News at the event, Adebayo lauded the governor’s commitment to fostering an environment where creativity could flourish.

He expressed belief in the potential of the newly established Lagos Film City, adding that the “state-of-the-art facility would undoubtedly become a hub for investment in the industry.”

Adebayo urged his colleagues in the industry to embrace this vision swiftly, recognizing the immense possibilities it holds for the creative community.

He also called on industry partners to unite and mobilize resources and strategies to elevate the Film City to greater heights.

Sanwo-Olu, in his address, emphasized the deep-rooted connection between Lagos and the creative industry.

He said Lagos has been the cradle of entertainment success for many, adding that the newly launched Film City would serve as a testament to the state’s dedication to nurturing and expanding the vibrant sector.

The event was graced by industry bigwigs and veterans, who lent their support to the Lagos Film City initiative.

Notable personalities like Saidi Balogun, Kunle Afolayan, Adebayo Salami, and Jide Kosoko were in attendance with their presence symbolizing a united front in the advancement of the entertainment industry in Lagos.
