“Two other Deputy Governors – Mrs Aishah Ahmad and Mr Edward L. Adamu are being interrogated by the panel’’
Contrary to reports, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in charge of Economic Policy, Dr Kingsley Obiora, was not arrested by the Department of State Security (DSS).
Kingsley, according to a Persecondnews investigation, was invited by the Jim Obazee Special lnvestigative Panel and still under interrogation for clarification on some official matters.
“Kingsley was not arrested by the DSS. He was invited by the Jim Obazee special investigative panel and is under interrogation and clarification on some official matters,’’ a dependable source at the CBN told Persecondnews.
“Kingsley has not done anything to warrant arrest as he has been resourceful in kicking the Nigerian economy back to working ways.’’
Obiora was a policy chief at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and was an adviser to former Finance Minister, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
He was also an adviser to Emefiele until March 2, 2020, when he was confirmed to his current position as one of CBN’s four deputy governors.
It was gathered that the Acting CBN Governor, Mr Folashodun Shonubi was also invited and interrogated by the panel over the affairs of the apex bank under the suspended governor, Godwin Emefiele.
Persecondnews also learnt that two other Deputy Governors – Mrs Aishah Ahmad and Mr Edward L. Adamu are being interrogated by the panel.
On July 31, 2023, President Bola Tinubu had appointed Jim Obazee as the Special lnvestigator to probe the activities of CBN and other related entities.
Obazee was the CEO of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).
As at 10pm on Friday (September 1) night, Per Second News gathered that he was still being interrogated.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), Abbas Umar Masanawa has been released by the DSS.
