Popular Nigerian skitmaker and actor, Debo Adedayo, otherwise known as Mr Macaroni, has bemoaned Nigerian Senators for constantly demanding from the masses to make sacrifices amid biting economic condition while the legislators share money to themselves for holidays.
Persecondnews recalls that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had in a viral video while addressing members of the Senate before going on recess, disclosed that a “token” had been sent to their various accounts for the holiday.
The video drew instant ire of many Nigerians on social media platforms as they knocked the senators for being insensitive to the plight of ordinary Nigerians.
“In order to enable all of us to enjoy our holidays, a token has been sent to our various accounts by the Clerk of the National Assembly,” Akpabio was quoted in the viral video.
Mr Macaroni, who took to Twitter to express his displeasure, said it is morally wrong for the legislators to ask Nigerians to make sacrifices due to the economic reality of the country while they are busy sharing money for holiday among themselves.
According to him, Nigerian leaders ought to be the ones making sacrifices for the country, but the opposite is the case.
He wondered why poor Nigerians have to bear the brunt of the expensive lifestyle of the lawmakers who don’t understand that leadership is about service, selflessness, and sacrifice.
He tweeted: “These are the Leaders that have asked struggling Nigerians to make sacrifices if they want things to work in the country.
“So while Nigerians are going through unbearable hardship, our leaders are sending money to themselves to enjoy holidays.
“Who are those that should be making sacrifices if not for our leaders?
Do our leaders understand that leadership is about service, selfishness, and sacrifice??
“Why do the poor people of Nigeria have to pay for the luxurious lifestyle of the leaders?? Why??? This isn’t leadership!!!”
