A former Commissioner in ex-Kano Gov. Umar Ganduje’s cabinet, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, has replaced Maryam Shetty as a ministerial nominee from Kano State.

President Bola Tinubu communicated the latest development to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio during Friday plenary session.

In a letter to the Senate read by Akpabio, Tinubu also included former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN).

Persecondnews gathered that the Kano State ministerial nominee arrived at the National Assembly for screening when she was informed of her replacement.

She took to her ‘X’ handle to write:” I was just informed now at today’s plenary session that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has withdrawn my ministerial nomination, I’m grateful and thankful for any decision from you, my President.”

Persecondnews recall that Tinubu had on Wednesday transmitted the name of Shetty alongside 18 other nominees.

With Keyamo’s name being added to the list, the number of ministerial nominees has now increased to 48, making it the largest cabinet ever by any Nigerian President since the country returned to democracy in 1999 if all are confirmed.
