“He, however, dismissed his possible defection to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) before securing such a plum job”

Speculations are rife that the former Kano Governor and Defence Minister, Dr Rabiu Kwankwaso, will undoubtedly make the list of President Bola Tinubu’s ministers, Persecondnews has learnt.

Kwankwaso, who did not deny or confirm the ministerial slot in the Tinubu administration, said it might be a reality anytime from now.

Answering reporters’ questions about accepting a ministerial position from the Tinubu administration, Kwankwaso simply said:”Talks are ongoing about the possibility.”

He, however, dismissed his possible defection to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) before securing such a plum job.

Persecondnews recalls that Kwankwaso had on May 16, 2023 visited Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the President-elect in Paris, France, for talks.

He had contested as the Presidential Candidate of the New Nigerian People’s Party, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, for talks.

The Presidential, National Assembly, and Governorship elections in Kano were overwhelmingly won by Kwankwaso, dethrone APC at all levels particularly the gover focused on a government of national unity.

On his mission in Aso Rock, Kwankwaso said he and the immediate past Governor of Kano, Abdullahi Ganduje, were summoned by Tinubu over the ongoing demolition of structures in the state by the newly elected NNPP Governor.

According to him, the buildings demolished were illegally acquired by the Ganduje administration.

He said President Tinubu was shocked when he briefed him on the true picture of what led to the demolition.

“The President was shocked. Are you not shocked that somebody will sell a university? Are you not shocked that he  demolished the only university?

“Daula Hotel, for those of you who are in Kano, you know the old Daula, demolished  to zero and that: it was a faculty under the University of Science and Technology. He demolished that one. Are you not shocked?

“The President was shocked. He didn’t know. He even  mentioned that he talked to somebody to go and find out for him. But when I told him, I said you are a Muslim, very soon you are going for Sallah.

“How can you go under that circumstance and pray in that place? And even the Triumph place he is talking about, you are  journalists. You should be angry because that is your constituency, he demolished completely and put shops everywhere,” he said.

According to Kwankwaso, his party under Governor Abba Yusuf, is only fulfilling the campaign promises to demolish such structures.

“You see the governor is doing what we campaigned with. I wanted to be president, I campaigned also. And I went to Kano and told them that these places, schools, in fact most of our schools in Kano were being encroached on.

“And it is our policy to make sure that they encroached portions are returned to them. We will not allow anybody either local government chairman, or Governor to sell.”
