Seizure of FRCN station in Ibadan: Five suspected Oodu’a Nation agitators nabbed

Five suspected Oodu’a Nation agitators, who allegedly broke into a radio station owned by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, have been apprehended by the Police.

The suspects stormed and “hijacked” one of the FRCN stations — Amuludun 99.1 FM — at Moniya on the outskirts of Ibadan in the early hours of Sunday.

They invaded the station armed with various charms, took over the studios and made a broadcast about Oodua Nation.

The General Manager of the station, Mr Stephen Agbaje, who confirmed the development, said the offensive broadcast include “Oodua Nation has come to stay”, “Yoruba no more under the Federal Republic of Nigeria”, “United Nation will soon declare Oodua Nation”.

“Some group of agitators came around in the night and took over the station, but the situation has been brought under control by the security agents.

“They were able to recover the station and some arrests have been made,” he said.
