In a blast of anger, Tinubu at Abeokuta rally, spits fire, slams Buhari govt. for “sabotaging’’ his election in Feb. 25 poll

Frustrated by the current developments in the polity with petrol scarcity and the CBN’s naira redesign, the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Wednesday in the ancient city of Abeokuta in Ogun spewed angry vitriol at those he alleged were working against his election in the February 25 poll.

Tinubu, who was visibly incensed by the ongoing petrol crisis and power outage across the country, said it amounted to sabotage, pointing fingers at some powerful people in the Buhari administration.

Persecondnews reports that Tinubu had boasted that despite attempts by some persons to sabotage his chances in the February 25 poll, he would be elected Nigeria’s next President.

“Let fuel be expensive, only they know where they keep it. Keep petrol, keep the naira, we will vote and be elected.

“You may change the ink of naira notes. What you expect will not happen. We will win,” Tinubu, who spoke in Yoruba, said ruefully.

Still in a blast of anger apparently directed at the APC-led federal government, the party’s flagbearer said: “They said petrol will rise to N200/litre and N500/litre, let your mind be at rest. They don’t want these forthcoming elections to hold. They want to scatter it but that won’t be possible.’’

Tinubu spoke while addressing a mammoth rally at the MKO Abiola stadium in the state capital attended by his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima, Ogun Gov. Dapo Abiodun, Chief Bisi Akande, and ex-Edo Gov. Adams Oshiomhole among others.

“The city boy is here, I am the son of the soil, we will take the government from them; the bad people,’’ Persecondnews quotes the presidential candidate as saying.

“They thought they could cause trouble; they sabotaged fuel but with or without fuel, with or without motorcycles and tricycles, we will vote and win. This is a superior revolution.

“We will take over government through our PVCs. Even if they say there is no fuel, we will trek to the polling units,” Tinubu further declared.

Persecondnews recalls that Tinubu had in May 2022 on the eve of the APC Presidential primary held in June in Abuja released a “bombshell’’ in Abeokuta, calling out Pres. Buhari for not supporting him, claiming that without him (Tinubu) he would not have become president in 2015.

Recalling that he contested three times and fell down flat three times (Olule) and wept profusely, vowing not to contest again in his life time until he went to him in Kaduna to ask him to run again.

Tinubu had contributed three lexicons into the nation’s political dictionary, according to humorous ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo as follows : “Olule’’, “emilokan’’ (it is my turn after Buhari) and “eleyi’’ ( referring derogatingly to Ogun Gov. Abiodun) at a meeting of the state delegates to the primary.

He said but for him, Abiodun would not have been governor, criticizing him for supporting Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), a son of the soil from the same local government — lkenne — against him ahead of the primary which he won amid allegations of vote-buying and inducements.
