Barely 37 days to the national elections, gunmen may have renewed their offensives in the beleaguered Imo State with the shooting of the Sole Administrator of Ideato North Local Government Area, Chris Ohizu and two others.

The council boss, who was reportedly shot in the leg and others have been taken away by the gunmen in the wee- hours of Friday.

The country home of the administrator, an appointee of Gov. Hope Uzodinma, at Imoko was not speared as it was burnt down by the criminals.

A source said: “The Sole Administrator of Ideato North was kidnapped last night together with two others after burning his house at Imoko community in Arondizuogu.

“They shot him in the leg before taking him away. This is a man who came back from the hospital recently. I am devastated now.”

The renewed wave of criminalities is coming barely 24 hours after the People’s Democratic Party, Imo State chapter, had alerted President Muhammadu Buhari to the worsening insecurity in the state, citing the recent attack on Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.

Reacting to the incident, the State Chairman of PDP, Engr. Charles Ugwuh, said the state has become a theatre of war and butchery.

He also recalled the deadly, bloody attack launched at the home of the spokesman of the Coalition of United Political Parties, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, last week.

Persecondnews recalls that the CUPP spokesman had in an emergency message on Whatsapp written: “We need help at Akokwa. We are under attack. My house in Akokwa….they have surrounded it and opened fire. We are under attack. Help, help !!!
