Three days after the murder of Lagos female lawyer, Mrs Bolanle Raheem, the authorities have finally revealed the identity of the killer police officer.
He is Assistant Superintendent of Police Drambi Vandi.
DSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the state command’s spokesman, who made this public as directed by the Commissioner of Police, said Vandi has now been detained.
Persecondnews had reported that Vandi, who was attached to Ajiwe Divisional Police headquarters in Ajah, had on Christmas day shot and killed Mrs Raheem, who was pregnant, at under bridge Ajah in her car.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal and Investigations Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Hundeyin said via his Twitter handle.
He promised that investigation into the death of the lawyer will be “swift.”
Earlier in the month, one Gafaru Buraimoh was also shot dead by a yet-to-be-identified or apprehended killer-cop from the same police station.
Meanwhile, the Police Force spokesman, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi said in a statement that the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali, has expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family.
According to him, the action of the police officer does not represent the core values of the Nigerian Police Force.
“The lnspector-General of Police has ordered a speedy investigation and prosecution of the officers responsible for the ugly and unprofessional act which doesn’t portray the Nigeria Police Standard Operating Procedure and core values.”
