Barely three months to the 2023 polls, the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives candidate for Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency of Enugu State, Ejikeme Omeje has died.
Omeje, a pharmacist, died in a road crash on Tuesday morning (Nov. 8) near El-Rina Hotel, Nsukka, on Eden Ani/Nsukka Road.
The lone accident occurred when Omeje was returning from a political gathering at Edem-Ani.
“He was said to be driving along the Erina-Edem Ani road in Nsukka when he suddenly lost control and his car veered into the bush, hitting a tree in the process.
“He was rushed to the hospital but later died early Tuesday morning as a result of serious injuries sustained in the accident,” a party member said.
The State Secretary of APC in Enugu State, Mr Robert Ngwu, who expressed grief about the politician’s death, described it as shocking.
