A daybreak fire on Monday ripped through the roof of the Kogi State House of Assembly complex in Lokoja, the state capital.
The fire caused extensive damage to the chamber thereby disrupting the legislative duties of the lawmakers, Persecondnews reports.
Devastated by the incident, Assembly Speaker Mathew Kolawole and the Security Adviser to the Governor, retired Commander Jerry Omodara rushed to the burning complex to assess the level of damage.
Speaking with reporters, Kolawole said the incident smacked of sabotage but did not state where it came from.
Asked if the fire is connected to recent happenings between the Assembly and Dangote group, he said: “We should leave security people to do their work and give us a report going forward.”
