Just in: 5 people trapped, 2 rescued as another three-storey building collapses in Lagos

Another building has collapsed in Lagos metropolis, this time a three-storey building at Oyesonuga Street on Isolo Road in Mushin.

At least, five people have been reportedly trapped in the building while two have been rescued.

Three female occupants of the building are among those trapped still in the debris of the building.

LASEMA and other first responders are on ground, carrying out operations at the site in search of trapped victims.

Commenting on the incident which has become a common occurrence in the state, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary at LASEMA, said:”On arrival of LRT at the scene of incident, it was discovered that a 3 storey building had collapsed at aforementioned address.

“Further investigation revealed that the collapsed building was an adjoining building to another 3 storey building.

“Two people who were trapped inside the building have been rescued and treated, However, we were informed two females that are occupants of the building are still missing. Search and rescue operation is ongoing.”

Among the responders at the scene are LRT, state fire service, neighbourhood watch, LABSCA and the Police.

Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off for evacuation and rescue operation.
