The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has applied sanctions against two privately-owned television and radio stations, ordering their immediate shutdown.
NBC announced the revocation of the broadcast licences of Silverbird TV, AIT, Raypower FM, and Rhythm FM among others over what it called their failure to renew their broadcast licences.
The Director General of NBC, Malam Balarabe Shehu gave the marching orders on Friday in Abuja.
He directed the commission’s state offices to liaise with security agencies in their areas of operation to ensure the shut down of the stations within the next 24 hours
