President Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy of the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers was on Tuesday attacked by yet-to-be apprehended gunmen right in his home state, Kastina.
The convoy was heading to Daura for Sallah when it was shot at, the Presidency confirmed late Tuesday.
The attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but the military, police and DSS personnel accompanying the convoy reportedly repelled the attack.
However, two people in the convoy sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
Other military personnel, staff of the Presidency and the vehicles in the convoy made it safely to Daura, according to a statement by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, a copy of which was obtained by Persecondnews.
He described as sad and unwelcome the shooting incident which occurred near Dutsinma, Katsina State.
