Miscreant gangs take over FCT’s Mpape tourism site — PSN check

Vagrants have taken advantage of the failure of the FCT Administration to develop the Mpape tourism site to retake and occupy the area.

A check by Persecondnews shows that the miscreants have continued to mass at the site, turning it into their hideouts to commit crimes.

Mpape Community hosts one of the most attractive tourism sites known as the Crush Rock Spring Water, an aesthetic underdeveloped facility.

As a result of criminal activities going on at the tourism site, would-be tourists are scared visiting the area.

Worried by the development, leaders of Mpape Community raised the issue with the Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement to the FCT Minister, Mr Ikharo Attah in his office at the weekend.

They expressed serious concern that criminals were retaking the tourism sites after they were dislodged some months ago.

Mpape’s paramount ruler, Chief Musa Ahmadu, noted that “areas where the FCT taskforce dislodged the illegal occupants had been fully rebuilt against their wish.

He regretted that the festering criminal activities going on in the site were discouraging would-be tourists from visiting the area.

He appealed to FCTA to immediately redeploy its taskforce  to the community and remove the illegal market extension and hideouts of the criminals within the tourism sites.

“The site if developed will be a major source of revenue to the administration $

Attah said it was unfortunate that few people had continued to force government to waste scarce resources on demolishing illegal structures.

He said FCT Administration had expected that all residents would have heeded the warnings and stop promoting illegalities in order help the government save resources for better development.

He threatened the FCT would soon deploy its  bulldozers to Mpape to sustain the clean up exercise, promising  that illegal structures erected by the miscreants and other residents in violation of the extant laws would be demolished.
