Breaking: Oyo monarch, Adeyemi a.k.a “Iku Baba Yeye”, joins ancestors

After a 52-year reign on the throne, a first class monarch in Yoruba land, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, has exited.

Aged 83, Adeyemi passed on in the late hours of Friday at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti.

Persecondnews learnt that he was the longest reigning monarch of the old Oyo empire.

Already, the body of the late monarch had been brought to Oyo on Saturday and traditional rites had commenced.

Born on October 15, 1938 into the Alowolodu Royal House, Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi was installed on November 18, 1970, following the demise of Oba Gbadegesin Ladigbolu I.
