Shops, properties destroyed as petrol tanker explodes in Onitsha, Anambara State

Several shops and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed by fire after a petrol laden tanker exploded at the Upper Iweka junction of Onitsha, Anambra State, on Friday.

Persecondnews gathered that the tanker overturned while trying to dodge a bad portion of the busy Obodoukwu junction, Onitsha, and exploded into large flames.

The incident which started around 8:30am, was reported to have caused a traffic in and out of Onitsha.

Security operatives as well as fire service have been deployed to the scene to control the fire.

Also, there have been no reports of casualties.
