Gruesome murder of Ataga, CEO of Super TV: Prime suspect to be charged to court soon – Lagos CP Odumosu

The Police in Lagos said on Thursday they have recorded a breakthrough in the gruesome murder of Mr Michael Usifo Ataga, the CEO of Super TV, an entertainment medium, on June 15, 2021 at an apartment (rendezvous) in Lekki area of the state.

With the arrest of the prime suspect (a bodacious girl of Ataga) on June 23, 2021 at her Yaba residence, a good lead is being followed in launching a thorough investigation into the heinous crime.

Police gave the identity of the murder suspect as a 300 level student of the University of Lagos (name withheld) as having conspired with others still on the run to allegedly murdered Ataga by stabbing him severally with a “sharp object’’ at a “short service apartment” at No 19, Adewale Oshin Street, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

According to the Police Commissioner, Mr Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu, the suspect, Ataga’s lover, had booked an apartment on June 13, 2021 secretly and left the apartment after the deed had been done on June 15 about 5.30pm.

He said the suspect, 21, was tracked and arrested at her residence at No. 57, Akinwunmi Street, Alagomeji, Yaba, Lagos.

“During search, the prime suspect and Mass Communication student of Unilag, was caught with a blood-soaked cloth, ostensibly worn on the day of the incident.

“The suspect confessed to have stabbed the deceased with a kitchen knife after a struggle. 

She further confessed to have taken the knife away while leaving the scene and disposed same in a dustbin at her residence.

“It has also been revealed that the suspect equally stole the deceased’s iPhone. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other accomplices.

“However, the case will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded,’’Persecondnews quotes Odumosu as saying while parading the suspect.

Odumosu assured the public that the command would intensify efforts in carrying out thorough investigation into the matter, apprehend and cause other culprits involved in the heinous crime to face the full weight of the law and justice done in the matter.
