President Buhari has appointed Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff. The new COAS is a member of RC 37.
Yahaya, a major general, will replace the late Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru who died in a plane crash last week.

Before his appointment, Farouk Yahaya was the general officer commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian army.
