Tragedy: Cross River Police Commissioner is dead

Tragedy struck the nation’s police hierarchy on Saturday morning as the Cross River State Police Commissioner, Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, died of pneumonia complications.

The late Ibrahim, who is from Kwara State, reportedly died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital where he  was rushed to in the morning.

The spokeswoman for the State Police Command, Ms Irene Ugbo, has yet to release an official statement on the death of the Commissioner.

Meanwhile, Gov. Ben Ayade has expressed shock and sadness over the death ofJimoh, describing his death as a great loss to the state, country, and the police force.

In a statement on Friday, Prof. Ayade eulogized Jimoh as a brave and courageous officer who was a central figure in the fight against kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

“You were a hero in our relentless quest to ensure peace. Your gallantry and bravey will remain an enduring memory as we mourn your sudden demise.”
