In Ogun State, at least, nine suspected internet fraudsters were in the early hours of Wednesday picked up from their hideout by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in what can be described as  Operation Swoop.

EFCC gave the names of the suspects, whose ages range between 21 and 31, as Tobi Idowu, Gbeminiyi Samuel, Adekunle Gafar, Wusu Taiwo, Agbabaidan Idris, Olaiya Olamide, Adediran Rotimi, Ikegbuka Junior and Ridwan Garuba.

According to the Ibadan Zonal Office of the commission, the nine men were arrested at Aaya Camp in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The commission said the successful operation followed “sustained surveillance and intelligence’’ on cybercrime activities in the area.

Among the items recovered from them are two luxury cars, laptops, expensive phones, internet routers and many Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards.

The commission said the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations were concluded as they are cooling their heels in EFCC net in Ibadan.
