Barring any last minute hitch, international flights will resume in Nigeria on August 29,  the Federal Government announced on Monday.

The Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, said international flights would start in Lagos and Abuja for a start.

He told a briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 in Abuja  that the protocol and procedure for the operation would be announced in due course.
Persecondnews had reported that the nation’s airports were shut down following the outbreak of Coronavirus in March.
Government had in July lifted ban on domestic flights after necessary protocols were put in place at the airports.
He said all the non-pharmaceutical guidelines including physical distancing, temperature checks, and handwashing must be compulsorily complied with by passengers before departure.

The minister also he tweeted:” You will take COVID-19 test before departure and you will pay for your test on a certain website for the test, eight days after your arrival, you will take another test.

“Glad to announce the resumption of international flights from the 29th of August, 2020. Beginning with Lagos and Abuja as we did with the domestic flight resumption.

“Protocols and procedures will be announced in due course. We thank you for your patience.”
