Lanre Rasaq, a.k.a KLM, died from COVID-19, says Osiyemi

A Lagos APC leader, Chief Lanre Razak, died of COVID-19, a senior journalist and an ally of Rasaq has disclosed.

Aged 74, Rasaq, a.k.a KLM, died in the early hours of Saturday.

Chief Bayo Osiyemi had posted on his Facebook page: “Lagos State boisterous politician and the Balogun of Epe, Chief Lanre Rasaq is dead.

“He succumbed to the coronavirus pandemic on Lagos after a long battle with it.

“Chief Rasaq was a member of the state’s Governors Advisory Council (GAC) and was a one-time chairman of Epe Local Government.

“Bìg and burly, KLM, as he was widely known, was a member of several social organisations.

“He ran a flourishing construction company which was involved in many housing programs of govt on private-pinlic partnership basis.”

The late politician served as Commissioner for Transportation in the  administration of military Gov. Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

The ebullient politician and the Balogun of Epe joined the All Nigeria Peoples Party in 1999 and contested against Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu as governor and later defected to the People’s Democratic Party.

In 2011, he joined the Action Congress of Nigeria which later became APC.
